3 Wheel All Terrain Pushchair
A pushchair that is all-terrain and has outstanding maneuverability will work whether you're searching for a buggy for woodland walks or an excursion on the main street. These types of models are typically equipped with large wheels and a suspension system that provides a smooth ride on rough terrain.
Most are suitable from birth and come with a lie-flat baby seat or a baby carrycot. These vehicles also have tyres that do not flatten, and are usually comprised from foam.
Suspension
A truly all-terrain pushchair will have a good suspension that is designed to be extra smooth on uneven ground which allows your child to be comfortable and calm. The wheels should also be large and will usually have a puncture-proof design to protect against damage caused by sharp sticks or rocks.
The larger tyres can help you navigate more difficult terrains easily Some all-terrain pushchairs even offering the option of different tyres you can switch between to suit different conditions. Based on the type of terrain you want to explore Some all-terrain pushchairs come with an swivel front wheel that can be locked to ensure stability, or unlocked to allow for more maneuverability when needed.
For additional peace of mind Some all-terrain pushchairs include a lockable handbrake which is easier to reach and use with your hands free rather than using a traditional brake pedal on the side of the handlebars. This is an excellent feature to have if you want to tackle the steep slopes, especially with children in the seat and a lot of shopping bags stashed under!
There are many strollers that offer good off-road capability, but not the ultimate. They also have big wheels and a great suspension. 3 wheeled strollers are generally more affordable than full-on all-terrain buggy models, and can work well for short walks in the countryside or trips to the park.
A lot of strollers are suitable for infants with either a carrycot or a car seat that is designed for babies. However, be aware that when it comes to pushing over dips and bumps, the seats aren't completely flat - as per EU regulations, they are required to meet minimum standards for a recline of around 150deg. Graco has solved this issue by introducing a new 'comfitech in-seat suspension' which allows the seat recline at a flatter angle for a bit more comfort. This feature is available on the Lila XP all-terrain pushchair which can be used with an compatible Graco infant car seat to create a 3 in 1 travel system.

A majority of all-terrain pushchairs lack seats that can be reversible, however the likes of the Oyster 3, Venicci Tinum and egg 2 do have this option, and both provide a very good level of off-road performance and have an acceptable weight limit for a two-year old. There are many pushchairs that are classified as all-rounders like the iCandy Pear and Bugaboo Cameleon, which cope very well with the rough terrain of the park or National Trust places but don't have quite the off-road capability of genuine all-terrain pushchairs.

Brands such as iCandy, Easywalker and Bugaboo have produced some excellent models to look at.
Wheels
All-terrain pushchairs are essential if you live in a rural area or take your child for regular walks on rough terrain. These models have bigger wheels that are mounted on the back than normal pushchairs, allowing them to handle bumpy terrain better and provide the most comfortable ride for your child. They also have sturdy suspension and puncture-proof types so that they're suitable for use on grass, woodland or forest paths as well as gravel tracks and town cobbles.
Some all-terrain pushchairs also feature a lockable front wheel which offers extra stability when walking over rough terrain and on high kerbs. Some have swivel wheels on the front that allow you to maneuver the buggy more easily when you are changing direction or turning corners.
All-terrain pushchairs come with air-filled tyres which offer excellent shock absorption and are perfect for rough terrain but they are more susceptible to punctures than solid EVA tyres found on city strollers that are light, so it's worth buying an repair kit, spare inner tube and pump alongside your pushchair. Some all-terrain models have foam tyres, which are less prone to punctures but they're not as good at absorption of shock and can be harder to push than tyres filled with air.
The brand new Bugaboo Fox 5 pushchair is a great model of a stroller that includes both foam and air filled tyres. It also comes with an excellent suspension and large rear wheels that are puncture resistant and ideal for off-road use or running (once your child reaches an appropriate age). This model is also suitable for babies and can be used in conjunction with a carrycot or a lie-flat seat.
Another alternative is the iCandy Peach All-Terrain, which comes with large tyres and one steering wheel at the front. It is not as flexible as the other all-terrain strollers on this list, but it can manage hilly terrain and features a large one-handed fold that is great for long walks in the countryside or long journeys. It's also suitable for babies and comes with a large canopy that extends and a movable handlebar and a large, spacious basket.

It also comes with numerous features that are suitable for parents, such as an adjustable handlebar as well as a hand-operated break on the right. The hood can be taken off and washed with cool soapy water to keep out mould and mildew.
If you're planning on driving your all-terrain pushchair off road, it's worth opting for air-filled tyres instead of those with rubber grips. They'll provide an easier ride on rough terrain, and make it easier to navigate in tight spaces. If you plan to use your all-terrain stroller for occasional jogging, be sure the front wheel is able to swivel or features a quick release mechanism so it can be locked in place to provide greater stability.
To ensure that the fabric is in good condition, it's important to ensure that they can be washed by a machine. If not, a spot clean with warm water and a bit of gentle soap should suffice. The fabric can be dried thoroughly outside to prevent mildew or mould.

The majority of our 3 wheel pushchairs can be used from the time of birth. It is recommended to look for models that have an all-flat, fully-reclining seat with a reversible backrest. This will allow you to use the pushchair from the time your baby is born until the time your child reaches around three years old. If you want to travel with your family of three, there are plenty of models that are compatible with car seats due to the built-in adaptors. If you'd prefer to leave the car at home, there are all-terrain pushchairs that have fixed front wheels which are ideal for casual strolling or jogging light like the Delta Special Needs all-terrain jogger from Delichon that is available in a range of canvas and frame sizes that can be used by adults and children.
